speedo cable tension

I just got done lubing the speedo cable and got it all back together. I got the sheathing all twisted because the cable insn't able to reach all the clips. I got the cable back into the transfer case, but I'm worried the extra tension will cause some problems in the long run. Will this be a problem? Will this make the gauge inaccurate?

The reason I'm asking is because I had a clutch cable that kept breaking, and I'm not sure if it was because they kept getting all twisted when they were installed (self installation) or if there was too much tension.
