Well i have bin reading threads all morning about spark plugs and gapping them. I have done spark plugs before in my f250 but not in my yota yet. What would be the best spark plugs for my 1988 22R-E? and they will com pre-gapped right?

Also if i am sea foaming my engine should i change my plugs after i do this?

Do not use Bosch

In case yer interested - I run AutoLite 64 or 646 but thats a custom gap and a fiddled with engine etc... and I swap em out every 15k

NGK is the best! Champion, Bosch, and Autolite ain't so great... Jus' my 2 cents. Follow that up with some 8mm wires. Fo' sho'...

Everyone told me that the reason my truck was running like crap (pinging) was because Bosch plugs sucked and that they didn't last so I bought NGK's. The truck ran exactly the same, no difference in power, ping, or reliability.

I've put hundreds of thousands of miles on Bosch platinum's and never had any issues at all. But still, NGK's are favored so much over anything else that I'll probably continue to run them anyway. Right now I have a set of Vgrooves in it which was probably a waste of money, but it was the only NGK they had in a colder heat range so I bought them.

The plugs come pregapped but you still need to check the gap to be certain. I'm running a wider gap than recommended in mine but once again, I doubt it made any difference at all so I probably won't do it next time.

ive been using densos, and havent had a problem w/ em, but its about time i changed em too.

ive always used ngk in my dirbike, might pick up a couple ngk iridiums at the shop tomorrow with an o2 sensor...

Yeah i figured NGK but what kind, there are copper core, single prong, double prong and so on.which would be the best for my 1988 22R-E?

ngk sells that double electrode crap?

as far as i know theres 3 options: copper, platinum, and iridium.

coppers will last the shortest amount of miles, but are cheapest. I went with the plats, and everywhere i've been the iridiums have to be special order, and i'm just too lazy to make 2 trips to the parts store.

I ran bosch when i first got the truck, and it runs better with the ngk's. go figure. I thought spark plugs were spark plugs.

I also like to pull em from time to time to check how the engine is running, etc, and they tend to get replaced once a year. Its real easy to pull em on the 22re, and typically takes me less than 20 minutes to replace all 4.

Yeah wasnt sure about the electodes, some of the other threads were talking about al sorts of junk. I will go get some platinum ones, hopefully i dont have to order them

they oughta have em in stock. I think they were around $3 a piece. Check the gaps to make sure they weren't damaged, etc.

NGK and DENSO are both really good. I'd lean towards DENSO because they have the U-Groove ground electrode and don't wear as fast as the NGK V-Groove center electrode. Only a marginal difference though.

Don't use multi gound electrode plugs in your truck as they are not designed to go together.

the plugs are pregapped, but I would suggest opening them up a few thousanths to about .035" as this usually results in a smoother idle.

I have a 3.0 3VZE, 1992, I bought spark plugs...bosch...before I read anything about them, my idle is a little rough, but no adjustment will fix it. Is it the same for a 3.0 as for a 22r? spark plug wise? I want to have the right spark plugs for the truck, what runs the best in a 1992 3.0 3vze? anyone got any opinions that owns one?

i like autolites. they are cheap, and are good for a year or two. i think i have 65s or so in there, dont remember. almost the same plugs as my dodge.
