The gear that engages the rear tailgate motor on my '87 4Runner has worn out its last few teeth, and now skips when the window comes to a close. I've searched for replacement regulators, but the few ebay options out there look like they'll come with other problems as they look very rusted. Anyone know a good source for one?
My alternative is to build up the tooth with a wire-welder and grind a new tooth profile back in, but I'm skeptical of how well that'll turn out.
Yes, I've already searched the normal places such as listed, including others like Amazon and rockauto as well. Factory parts don't even seem referenced, and I've not seen any aftermarket replacements from places like Dorman and such.
