Softtop for 87 pickup?

Been all over the "blog-a-sphere" and the "Inter-web" and am looking for a soft top for my 87 x-trab cab. Have found Besttop, Softtopper, and Can-back so far.
The Can-back costs the same as my whole truck, and the Besttops and Softtopers seem to only have softtops for 89+ pickups. Question is what is a viable option for a softtop to fit my rig without spending $1,000 or making it myself? Also why wouldn't a besttop or softtopper for an 89 truck, fit mine?

Thats weird. I would shoot em an email and ask if it would work. I got a softopper for my 87 4runner and I love it. The canvas is heavy duty and it has held up really well. I sent them an email with some questions and they answered them the next day. I'm sure they could come up with something fairly easy.

Luck strikes in the form of craigslist. I contacted softtopper and they assured me that since the beds of yota's haven't changed that much in dimensions over the years the 89+ truck style soft top would fit me just fine. I wasn't entirely sure about $625 shipped to my door. I tried in despiration to find on cheaper and in a last ditch effort, I searched the part number on craigslist and found a 3 day old ad from a guy in Washington state with one that he had purchased just before his poor tacoma died for good. It was still in the box, brand new for $199 for local buyers only. I offered him $250 + shipping to get it to me in Cali and he went for it. Took about 1.5 hours to get on. It's awesome and for less than half price!
