that soft top is ON POINT! I wish I had the balls to chop it up like that. Any pictures without the soft top?

any idea how well its going to seal when its raining and your going 65+?
also, are those button fasteners right on your bed? aaaaaand, what kind of a weather stripping did you use, if any??

 

I give you props for doing something different, it's a good idea and I bet it looks cool with the top off...But honestly, I'm not digging it. Just doesn't look right to me.

 

space-junk: i had it on the freeway this morning(still raining), and was going about 75 mph and no leakage! the top barely flexed! yes, there are the screw in button fasteners right in the side(bed) of the truck. no weatherstripping, the top portion has a c-channel spline that the fabric is fastened to, the re st is open, i will be adding some weatherstripping along the front side area and in the rain channel just to be certain there are no leakes once the fabric stretches a bit. the fabric is a premium marine grade canvas, no maintenence needed. completely waterproof. just spray off every now and then. the only real maintenece that you have to do is spray some waterproofing spray on it every 2-3 yrs. chris: thanx for the props, yeah i know every one won't like it, but everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

I always love it when people design their own things! Nice Job! The buttons though, too many times I've seen those things work like rust magnets especially on Toyotas. Did you do anything different to prevent rust?

YEAH, i know what you mean bout those snaps, the only thing that was done was, we put some primer in the screw holes and then siliconed the screws and button snaps. velcro would have worked, but i don't know how it would have held up at 75 mph on the highways. plus it would have looked bad.

 

Looks better when it's up. Now it's time to fix the sag and put some bigger tires on it.

 

disk brake upgrade is next, then 2in. spacer lift with 32x11.5x15 tires. here's a pic of the sag before the chop! had to of removed about 100 lbs or better!

 

thats one of the best chopped up 4runners i have seen looks good man
