man that sucks hardcore. thats good you and your friends walked away baiscally unharmed. isnt that a crazy feeling after you come to and realize what happend. i remeber when i rolled my first yota, i was run off the road by a oncoming 1ton dodge in my lane (who didnt even hit the brakes and kept on going). after the truck stoped rolling i remeber crawling out of what was left of the passenger side door, i stumbed to my feet and turned around and literaly puked when i saw my truck.. bed sides caved in, frame twisted, cab demolished. then i remeber getting angry.. really angry lol.. i literaly 2 days before i had finished the body work and had just got the bed primed.. and the worst part was i only had liability at the time so i was S.O.L .. so i called my dad up and had him come get me (the cops never even showed up, no one stoped, no ambulances ..nothing lol) when he showed up he started freakin out telling me to sit down ... and then i realized i was bleeding like a stuck pig out of my arm and shoulder lol i was so amped up i didnt even feel the glass and gravel embeded in my arm .. nor notice that my white shirt was now red lol

i say buy it back and revive it. even if you dont really fix it all the way.. itd make a great canidate for a trail rig

WOW!!!

dude, I'll cry with you!

You and I got matchn rigs almost,

I can sympathize with the other lady driver... only because I did the same thing 6 yrs ago. Albeit the situation was a lil different.. The line went yellow, yield on a green, left. 4 lane road. far left oncoming lane, jeep stopped, light went red. I waslready creeped into the intersection, old lady in white van, in inside oncoming lane decided to floor it through the yellow, which turned red before she got there.... I made it i dunno maybe 2ft into her lane before i hit the brakes realizing she wasnt going to stop.

Hit us in the right front tire/A-pillar in a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee at about 45mph.

Transmission popped up into the cab and the shifter (auto) cracked my knee and the airbag doors (on the steering wheel) that flip out.. well the wheel was cocked so they opened like doors across my wrists and sliced em open. Airbag never touched me tho. Friend in pass seat smashed his head on the Bpillar, didnt know who he was after that for like an ahour. all went to hospital in ambulances on boards..

old ladies van was unrecognizable and she shattered one of her legs up bad.

Glad you're all ok, could of been much worse!!!!!

poor truck

Sorry man. Hope you can build it back. I know "accidents" happen, but maybe with the econemy the way it is, some of the non drivers will dump their tanks and get into something they can actually handle.

Sorry to hear about the wreck man, I certainly know what its like..

I got 6g's for my totaled 91, which is damn good.

When the insurance goes to give you some BS offer say no, and show them the reciepts, as well as a bunch of CL adds for similar trucks for Fair market value..

It will take about a month if your lucky..

Good luck..

I didn't think Ore. laws were the same as WA... so I googled it...

In Oregon, laws DO exist on the books in reference to riding in the bed (cargo area) of a truck:
people 18 and older; minors secured with a safety belt or harness; parades; minors seated on the floor of the open bed of a motor vehicle in which all available passenger seats are occupied by minors, the tailgate is securely closed and the minor is being transported either in the course and scope of employment or between a hunting camp and hunting site or between hunting sites during hunting season and the minor has a hunting license.

WA state has NO laws that explicitly prohibit riding in the rear... however... the seatbelt law applies... the driver/ passenger in question may be fined if there are available seats/ seatbelts within the cab of the vehicle. If there are adults in the cab, they are expected to give up their seats for minor children.
Also, its against the law to allow your dog to ride unleashed in the back of a pickup that doesn't have a canopy... (not that you'd know it living where I do... *cues the dueling banjos*)

http://www.iihs.org/laws/cargoAreas.aspx

Your friend is super lucky, I was already sick seeing the damage... almost puked when I saw that toolbox.
I'm glad everyone's ok... even the dumb ***** in the other car

I'll tell you what you can do. You can rebuild it. No kidding. Everyone of us here has at one time or another taken on a project that we knew was impossible with the limited skills and/or tools that we had. We've all been at the point of saying "EFF THIS! There is no way in H$*% that I can do this.". Then we stepped back, logged on, got some advice, and got the job done. You can too.

If you get the chance to get it back then do so and leave it sitting while you find another Yota to drive. Then one Saturday morning you need to walk out to it, sit in the drivers seat and remember how much fun it was. Then get your ass to work fixing it! Trust me you can do it and the truck wants you to do it. <----*Jedi mind trick*

Hell it's a Toyota, anything is possible.

yeah the lady i talked to from their insurance company told me that it is totaled today and that they are waiting on paperwork to come in. but she also told me that when they determine the value of it before the damage that they don't use kbb or nada.com she said that they use CL and autotrader.com and those kinds of sites to find trucks that they can compare mine to and then they average out the price of like 30 trucks or so and then they add the mods to that price like the new motor which in my case i am having a receipt made up as i'm typing this that says the motor is worth about twice what i actually paid for it so i'll get more money that way....i need all i can get lol

my plan is to buy it back since i have so much work into it and i know that the motor is still good. so i'll have a brand new motor for the next yota. there is a bunch of yotas on CL right now that i would love to get but i think i'm just going to wait till i get the money...

I almost cried when you said "Then one Saturday morning you need to walk out to it, sit in the drivers seat and remember how much fun it was." i don't even have to sit in the drivers seat i just know lol but that gives me that much more motivation to get it done right?? and i'm leavin on july 6th for recruit training for the marine corps. so i'll have some money to dump into it when i come home.

.
As an Air Force officer, it's disappointing to see the lack of integrity of a future Marine.

Putting ethics aside, it'll be worth more on paper (because of the new engine) when they payout the claim. but won't it be worth more when you try to buy it back??

Sorry about the truck, your friend got lucky as hell.

Where are you going through basic at? have fun, my time in the military was some of the best in my life. Something about getting paid to jump out of planes and helocopters, not too many jobs that you get to do that
