im not saying it looks the best and you will not win any beauty contests but here is mine

i used 3in flex hose and compound cement to seal it, i also cut a hole through the fender with a grinder (heh its all i had at the time)
i cut the original intake hose in 1/2 and glued the hose onto the flex hose and cemented it in place after putting it through the fender, i then put the outer 1/2 of the cut piece on the other end and zip tied it to the light bar.
i would love to take more pictures for you but this is what my runner looks like now.

oh and the whole thing cost me about 40 bucks including the soda i bought for the hour it took me. i forgot to mention that i also bought 4 hose clamps big enough for the flex hose and drilled holes in the metal by the windshield and fender to hold it in place.

tell ya what tho during the hurricane here while i was in waist deep water and haulin trees out of the road it never shut off on me and i got a LOT of looks at the snorkel. i think it looks better than the PVC snorkel that i saw on a jeep cherokee during a dune run we had a while back.

Trustyrusty DID say cheap homemade snorkels and by god my snorkel worked like a charm. had water over the hood once and didnt cut out on me. when it rains here all the water comes to one spot and it gets about 4 feet deep in some places. you just have to remember to make sure the air box is sealed good. i used rubber cement on mine and it never leaked.

You can think its "just plastic" but, the ARB snorkel is heavy duty....I think it'll last as long as my Yota. Mine has taken a beating and still looks brand new. You're paying for the peace of mind that your engine is safe, and for something that looks well and performs the great. I don't think a homemade PVC snorkel could stand up to a ARB.

PVC (white) and ABS (black) are incredibly tough. Try breaking any size with a sledge hammer.
