Smoke in engine bay

recently i started noticing a light amount of smoke coming from down in the engine bay around the exhaust manifolds, block, or valve covers. smoke is light and im having a hard time pinpointing it. i think my valve covers need replaced due to slight oil leaks around them, but reading some posts i have not seen anyone else talking about smoke from them. its white smoke and it smells pretty bad. any suggestions would be appreciated
