Slow Starting 94 3vze

I have a 94 pickup 3vze, I have gave it a tune up and had to put a new fuel pump and tank in it when I got it (it sat for 7 years before it was given to me) but I have got it running and it runs great once I get it started the problem is I have to give it throttle while trying to start and it takes about one or two times of me doing that for about 5-6secs before it will start. A friend said it might be the MAFS but i needed a second opinion about it and even if the MAFS would cause that... Any advise would be appreciated

Check your cold start injector and timer switch.

x2. If those both pass, test the engine coolant temp sensor.

Test the sensors mentioned above...easy to do. If they test good, check compression.
