I noticed that whenever I want to accelerate, there's a slight hesitation, or resistance to do so. The engine is a 2.2 litre, 4 cylinder, 130 hp.

What can I have adjusted, cleaned, flushed, oiled?

Hmmm, you have a honda engine in your toyota. Well that's the problem.

 

That engine is actually 145 HP. Anyway, go through the normal tune-up stuff; plugs, cap and rotor, wires, clean the TB, etc. That is, if those items need to be changed/cleaned.

 

Is it? I've read 130, 145, and 175hp from various websites. It's definitely not 175 (I believe that was an upgrade option). I tried looking in my owner's manual in the specs but couldn't find it.

Thanks for replying. At least I have an idea what I may be charged for when I take it in for maintenance. I don't like going in blindly...it's like giving the dealership a blank cheque

 

Come to think of it, the specs on your engine might be slightly different than the USDM 5th gen Accord. If anything, I would expect the HP on an EX-R to be higher...but that would be if you had the DOHC. Anyway, it doesn't really matter. The point is that you are having hesitation problems. So, like I said, look into a tune-up from a trusted shop and go from there. You would think the dealer would have addressed a problem like this in their 155-point inspection... crooks.

Thanks for your input guys - I totaly agree! I also take full responsibility for my part in not exercising due caution - always be on guard (buyer beware). I got caught up in the moment and signed the contract without making it "subject to inspection". I really know better, but I'm going to move on and make the best of it!

Anyway, what goes around will come around! I believe business integrity & reputation is key. If they do this to enough customers, they won't get referrals and negative advertising will far surpass the words of satisfied customers.
