siezed caliper...
My '94 has had squeeling brakes on the front left side for a few weeks now... finally got it apart to take a look, and the rotors look fine, no uneven wear. butthe brake pad on the inside of the passenger side is worn down, almost to the bottom of the pad material.
I have an idea that the caliper is siezed, is it worth a shot at breaking the pistons free and getting it going again... or should I just replace the caliper?

I had one lock up while driving to work a while back on my 80 model. I think with core, auto zone can get you hooked up for about $40. be weary though, most rebuilt callipers have a lifetime warranty, so some of them are going to be junk. I replaced my rebuilt one once already, had bad seals in it.

when in doubt replace it .it is easier to fix at home instead of on the roadside. also check to see if the caliper moves freely. i have had the inside of a brake line collapse and cause the brake not to release ,but that is rare.

Yup, checked out the caliper, and it had one piston that would not budge! picked up a reman'd caliper at autozone for $46... Id rather have the peace of mind, than fix my old one and have issues down the road!

My driver side seized also! I had it on a vice with a big arse c-clamp and banged it with a BFH and it would barley budge. I paid the same price too. Oh and if you get Autozone's Duralast Gold Cmax pads (I know not very good, BUT if they glaze they replace them for free.) But I need to bleed all my brakes, the brake pedal is a bit softer than before. Theres still an air bubble somewhere in the line.
