MMM Sexy but I still don't understand how the heck any of you runners with 35's can run a roof rack and not put anything big up there without the body roll getting obnoxious!!!

Unless my Tippy Bitch is some sort of exception.

*Side note - %#&^ You TC because this is NOT a post whore* *grin*

ditto...

for a trip to DUSY/ERSHIM a few years, i thought i needed one.

3-4 days on the trail.

so i went with a rail i got from SPORTS RACK. too a good afternoon to drill holes on the roof (:eek and screw in the rails.

then thule bars.

then a bauer rack. like a $400 invesment.

put the spare tire up there.

geez... tippy...

havent put the rack up there in 3-4 year now.

if i do go a long trip again, only light stuff like clothing, sleeping bag, tents, etc go up there...

It was loud! it dripped rust on my rig! wind drag! Looks better without any thing on the roof (no luggage rack) it looks mean as hell now! The final straw was when it hooked a tree and pulled me into it! Also I wont fit in the garage after the sas with it.

while the link posted below this response depicts a tacoma and not a second generation 4runner or pickup, my brother is now making roof racks that go on camper shells and could very well go on earlier runners with no problems due to the removable shell. These racks are completely custom, so your rack will be as badass as you want it to be.

Pictures and information here: http://www.samsonfab.com/phpbb2/view...83ef40904f8c86

Just some food for thought. When I get my shell/rack combo, I will have to post pictures as well.
