Helo all, this is my first post. I have a 94 X-Cab DX that is not running well. Took it to a shop, this is what they said:

"Check and advise, find chlinders 3 and 6 not firing. Compression test cylinders 3 & 6 find no compression. perform cylinder leak down test, find cylinders 3 and 6 exaust valves leaking at 95%. Also cylinder 1 rings sealing at 50%. Recommend engine swap due to cylinder 1 leak".

$3,800 was the quote to swap out. I don't have that at the moment. The neighbor got a used engine from Japan for around $1,000 and put it in himself some years ago.

I still drive it to the dump and to get lumber or dirt for the garden. Getting about 10 MPG. It shoots a lot of unburned fuel vapor out of the exhaust. Is there a way to disable the injectors to cylinders 3 & 6? Is this advisable?

3.0 will still be a 3.crap

3.4 swap or sell it and cut your losses.

And driving it on three cylinders is just ridiculous!

 

Try unplugging or crossing the wires on said injectors, helluva plan though I must admit.

 

 

My vote goes for the 3.4 swap...sold my 90' with the 3.0 for a 97' with the 3.4 and lovin it!
