SHOCKS (What Ones?
OK, I have a stock 4x4 4runner 1995. I'm ready to replace the shocks. I do want a smooth ride, but still want the shocks to carry some weight. Any info on what to get would be great. I no I will get the answers here as you all seem to no what is the best. Thanks.

Procomps are great in my opinion, but the are short for their application. The shocks meant for a stock 4Runner limit the articulation on my rear suspension and won't work for BJ spacing on the front. Find yourself the right length shock and you'll have yourself a good shock for cheap.
They aren't gas charged, so they won't *support* the weight of a heavy load, that's up to your springs. They will control it though.

i don't think so. you will need the 5100's.

No way, not another shock question. In my experience rancho 5000's, and procomp 3000's are junk, crap, feces, etc..
OME is a good shock, I have always ended up with them.
Shocks dont carry weight, thats what your springs are for.

I've been real happy with my Edelbrocks and will miss them. That said I think Bilstein non HD would be a good choice. Some people complain that the HD ones give a stiff ride. Its a truck so I personally don't mind but thats me.

My opinion is if you're not going to go with Bilsteins, go with OEM (stock) shocks. They are sort of polar opposites in some respects as the Bilsteins are on the firmer side, the OEM shocks are a little more plush and comfortable/soft.
Shocks are all about trade offs. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Bilsteins are good because they smooth out the ride, they significantly reduce body roll, and they make hauling weight much more safe as a result. EVen when my truck is loaded to the tits, the Bilsteins do an extremely good job of controlling the Springs which significantly reduces a loads ability to impact the handling of the truck. That is huge. They also do a much, much better job of keeping your tires pinned to the ground. I would also say while they give you more feed back offroad, they also are a safer shock because they don't seem to jar your steering that much. The stock shocks have more body roll, but they are soft and absorb bumps beautifully. I can't say one is better than the other really, they just have different attributes.
I will admit though that I do have a soft spot for OME (Old man emu) not through personal experience but just because they have such a good reputation for producing quality shocks, springs & suspension components that work well with Toyota trucks & 4runners.

What we need is a defenitive thread and have it sticky'ed. That will eliminate all the times this thread is brought up. I'm a mod at another forum and thats what we do when the same thread keeps popping up.....I know you say that people should use the search....But alas it doesn't stop this thread from coming up all the time.
