See if you can find out the extended length of those shocks, then go outside, unbolt the bottom of your shock on the rig now and jack up the front end. Measure from the top shock mount to the bottom mount. That's the length you need it to extend to.

By the way, the link you posted is for Skyjacker rear shocks.

If you go with those and they're the wrong length, you'll end up buying another pair of the appropriate shocks when you destroy the first set, so why are the KYB's too expensive? Are OME's too expensive to you?

As for the bumpstop, tightening the torsion bars won't make you need to shim them more. The bumpstop you should have shimmed is there to protect the cv's from drooping enough to bind and break.

Ok, that makes sense about the bumpstops.

I actually would like OME more than Pro Comp and the Superlift ones.

I realize they're usually a lil more money, but I don't know what the KYB's are selling for.
Here's the best deal I've found, and where I got mine:

I just need to not spend a lot of money. If that makes any sense. lol.

Well the Superlift ones are good for a lift of 0-1.5 inches so I think that would be fine.
And I can get the Pro Comps for the rear 4inch lift. It will all cost $140 with shipping, which is a good deal I think.

As for the OME they are a little too expensive. I could go OME in the rear and Superlift up front, but not OME all around because money is hard to come by for me. Or maybe get the LTR OME shocks but I dont know anything about those.

I think I'm going to get the Pro Comps and the Superlift. It's a bummer though because they are on back order until 3/13!

Actually I changed my mind. I'm definately going to get the Old Man Emu shocks for sure.

Would you happen to know the part numbers for the size shocks I need?
And a part number for a steering stabilizer for my 92 runner too?

in a nutshell, from my point of view, you get what you pay for. you get crappy parts because they are cheap, they can break and you have to buy them again. not saving any money then. I would wait until you can get the stuff that you really want and then be done with it. that's my $.02 I saved and got bilstein fronts and deotsch tech mv12 rears. the doestch techs that i have were about 50 bucks a piece and personally i think they are of higher quality and strength than the bilsteins.

EDIT: disregard i see you have made a decision for OME. good choice.

OME only has Nitro shocks. Just go to www.trdparts4u.com and you can find all the OME products for your Runner.

Lol. I really am compulsive when it comes to buying things.

I remembered I don't want to spend a ton of money on my runner because I just don't have much to.

I ordered the Pro Comp and the Superlift shocks. I've heard Pro Comp is pretty good.. and for the price I'm sure they are good. If they sucks at least I know they do from then on. lol.

Anyway I still have to wait until 3/13! Oh man that is a teaser.

superlifts i have heard suck. sorry i don't have first hand experience, that's just what i heard. I would hate to have you buy something and then be frustrated with the crappy ride because you didn't pay the extra 20 bucks or whatever. I waited and got what i wanted, not what i could pay for in the short term. make the truck the way you want it to be, not the way it can be tomorrow. it can take some time to build up you rig.

For future reference, Nitro Charger shocks are NITROgen gas charged. Remember not to mix ProComp shocks with OME springs if you ever go that route- the ride will SUCK if you do.

I don't think Pro Comp is a great brand- my steering stabilizer is already leaking, after maybe a year. I don't have dust covers on them, but the store owner said not to use them as they cause the shocks to rust. Great, now their rusty and the shaft is pitted and they're leaky. They should have came stock with boots (you hear that ProComp, you cheap arses). Partially a bad install, but also a "cheap" product IMO.

I figured that the Superlift proably suck because they were $30 each. lol.
I am running LC coils in the rear.

I don't know what to do.
If I spend $75 each for those Nitro OME shocks then I might as well get some Bilsteins.

I don't want to spend a lot on the shocks but I want a smooth ride.
How are the Rancho shocks? Are those any good?
My friend swears by the bilsteins and he has built 3 or 4 2nd gen. runners and has used Pro Comp and Skyjacker and said that the Bilsteins are way better.

I could buy a pair of the Bilsteins for the rear and get the Superlift up front for now. I can manage to afford that now. And later on maybe get Bilsteins for the front.

I can find Bilsteins all day for the front of my runner for a 4 inch lift but I can't find any for a 4 inch lift for the rear!

Can anyone else find it? Or does Bilstein not make them?

From my experience with them and with downey's experience, I would recommend The Doetsch tech MV 12's for the rear. They ride really nice. I think i payed 49 bucks a piece for the ones in the back. I splurged a bit and got the bilsteins up front and they are all right. the ride is very nice front to back. Like i said, i do a lot of highway driving and they ride really nice. I also do quite a bit of logging road bashing and they do great. Kind of want a smoother reservoir shock but i think i am going to wait until i do my long travel front end.

Ok. Thanks for the input. It is very helpful. Now that you told me these doetsch are better in your experience I think I will try them all around. And $50 a shock sounds good to me. lol.

Would you happen to know what size shocks I need for my LandCruiser coil lift in the rear on my 2nd gen. 4Runner. It gives about 3-4 inches of a lift.

And would you know what size shocks of these doetsch I need for the front of my runner, which has a 1.5 inch BJ spacer lift from 4Crawler.com. Also the front has cranked torsion bars.

Thanks

if you leave the torsion bar crank with the bf spacers you will blow boots and or cvs very quickly, as SR5 found out. besides that, I think the 10" travel shock would work in the back. I have the 9" travel my 1.5" of leveling lift in the rear.

Here is downey's site link for shocks.

http://www.downeyoff-road.com/Suspen...Absorbers.html

You can't any way, but don't use the mv-12's in the front. they are way too soft and would dangerous. in the back they are fine, but in the front you need a little bit more firmness i think. I don't have experience with the DT prerunner shocks, but i would be interested to know how they are.

good luck.

Ya ain't gonna get 4" of lift in the front with BJ spacers and cranked t-bars, at least nothing that's usable or will work for long.
