Shackle lift quick question
I just installed a 1 & 1/2" shackle lift on my 91' 4x4. The lift shackle came with some washers. The stock Toyota locking washer goes on the outside of the shackle, and I put the new regular "o" washers on the outside of the new shackle. My question is: do I put them on the outside (cause now I have a little bit of play between the inside of the shackle and the stock bushing)? Or do I put them on the inside and reuse the stock locking washer on the outside? Thanks in advance.

Anyone? I also noticed that because of the slight space between the bushings and the shackle, the shackle has to bend inward to the bushings. Does this bend the nut/bolt too? Not sure what grade nut/bolt came with the shackle, but the nut is a nylon locking nut...

what did you get for replacement shackles? if you have the kind that are just straight bars you need to get the spacers as the shackle is offset (the spring, and shackle mount are different width)
pictures might also be helpful. its hard to understand exactly what you mean by your first post

Yes, they are the offset and braced ones. I called the shop I bought them from and they told me they're okay the way I have them now (no spacers between bushing and shackle and shackle slightly bent inward). I would expect a little side-to-side play though. Is this okay? The shop said yes, but then again they sold them to me.

Not sure where this play is coming from. Normally you want to crank down the bolts until the side plates make contact with and slightly compress the bushings. If there is something holding the side plates away from contacting the bushing and the springs are loose inside on the bolt, then I would add a washer or two to take up the gap. Ideally, you want the side plates hitting the sides of the bushings flush for logest bushing life. If the side plates contact at a slight angle, the flange on the spring bushing can get chewed off and then you will have some play and metal-metal contact; neither are desireable.
