Set timing after head replacement

I am in the process of pulling my 3vze heads for a head gasket job, before I get too into it, I'm wondering the process of re-timing the engine once the heads are re-installed. Any advice here?

Reading the Service Manual can't hurt. http://web.archive.org/web/201204051...67timingbe.pdf

You'll make your life a lot easier if you put the crank to TDC on the compression stroke for #1, and then try to leave the cams there when you remove the heads. The cams will move a little from spring pressure, but you just rock them back when you put on the timing belt. At least you'll know you're close.

I am probably going to remove the cam pulleys and have the heads and valves serviced. I'm assuming that the camshaft pulleys only bolt back on in one way and you just line everything up when the belt goes back on
