Serpentine Broke led to 30% loss of power, Timing off?
I'll give you some details and see if you can help me. I'm at a loss here after much research and trial and error. I have a rusty 94 22re 4x4 with 175,000 on it. Last month while driving my serpentine belt broke and wrapped around crank-shaft/fan. I pulled over almost immediately and the rubber belt was smoking on the crank-shaft. I had it towed into a shop and had the belts replaced. As soon as I started it up and drove, I noticed a significant power loss on initial acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear and over 25% power loss once up to speed. I then replaced the TPS and MAF. Wasn't the MAF and i did adjust the TPS and it seemed to help a little but not much. I have a new fuel pump, regulator, sending unit, as of last summer and fuel filter two years ago. The other problems starts now. Several weeks of driving, the truck starts ok, a little crappy but somewhat normal. Then I can drive down my block for about 30 secs then all hell goes loose and I have only 10% power....just creeping down the street in 1st gear going 5mph. Then after about 30-40 secs of that, I seems to get a boost and seems to correct itself and I can accelerate up to speed. The power still isn't what it was 1 day prior to serpentine belt breaking. My question is, when the serpentine belt broke, could this have caused a problem with the timing chain and made it jump a tooth since it wrapped itself around the crank shaft? I want some advice before I pull the valve cover to see if Zero is really TDC. Please relieve me of my month long panic attack and future financial meltdown. Thanks.
