I have a 1986 Toyota 4runner with the 22re. I had a leaky injector (but still ran and idled perfect just popped a little bit) so i went through and replaced all of the top gaskets on the injectors. This caused it to leak worse and not run at idle at all. If i kept it on the gas it will run ok.

So i got an entire gasket kit for all of the injectors took them out and replace all of them put it all back together and it ran the same, bad unless at quarter throttle. We listened to the injectors and 1 and 2 were not firing as well as double checked it by pulling plugs. when 1 and 2 were pulled it did no change in condition. if 3 or 4 were pulled it would die out.

So i drove 300 miles for 2 new injectors. put them in and turns out WE HAVE NO CHANGE!!!!!!!!!! I am about ready to lose it scrap the 4runner and cut my losses. SOMEBODY HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are any of the injectors leaking now? when you say you listened to the injectors, you mean you didnt hear them "clicking?" Have you checked the voltage going to the injectors to see whether they are gettin any?

 

No injector leaks now. when we listened to them through a screwdriver you can hear them clicking. good call on the voltage...

 

Anybody know why we wouldnt have 2 cylinders? when we replaced those injectors?
