Sent out 22RE injectors for testing/cleaning
I have posted about this topic before and finally decided to start with the injectors. The problem I have been running into is poor gas mileage and some sporadic low/high idle surge along with a miss at the lower RPMs.
Okay first step removing the injectors. Upon removal I discovered the injectors were siliconed into the intake instead of having proper o-rings/cap etc. Already a bad sign from the previous owner. So the intake injector ports need to be cleaned completely to remove the silicon. And already sent the injectors to get them cleaned and flow tested...we should be getting them back tomorrow.
Now since the upper intake is off, I went ahead and removed the thermostat housing since it was easy to get to. Well what do I see? no thermostat installed. I'm wondering if that's the reasson why I can't seem to adjust or fine tune the correct idle RPM spot for the cold/hot idle during startup and when warm.
What else should I look for now that the top intake is off? should I bother to take apart other components off the intake for cleaning?
