Senior Project

So I'm going to be rebuilding my 22RE as my senior project. I've made friends with a few guys at the machine shop, and will be job shadowing them for the majority of the machine work. I plan on finding a dyno on a bone stock 22RE and then dynoing mine when Im all finished.
Any tips or suggestions?
I have quite a handful of money saved up for this project, so Im debating on whether or not I want to save my money for new gears (Running 33''s) or using it to buy a Supercharger for my project
Anybody have any input? If I choose the supercharged route, anything I need to change with the rebuild?
Anybody have any experience with the supercharger?
Thanks

I wouldn`t recomend a supercharger, they generate a lot of heat and require tunning (timing and fuel) to make it run properly. you can make good power by going with a 30 over bored block a ported head and large valves. a header and larger exhaust will help a lot also.

First off, check out http://www.engnbldr.com/ and pick Ted's brain about parts that will stand up to supercharging.

Other mods will help with power, but nothing can touch force induction.

As for the heat, just get a V6 radiator. Here's an easy way to justify a radiator selection. Just take a look at the horse power you predict you will make and get a radiator from an engine with similar power. Spark ignition (Otto cycle) engines waste around 3/4 of the chemical energy (gas) they intake as heat so you can infer the cooling capacity of their radiators by the power they produce.

Are you a senior engineering student, highs school? That can change how deep you get into testing what is contributing to what portion of power gains.

I think porting and polishing the heads, adding an RV or offroad cam, and making the intake have much better flow should work.
