Seats for a 1st Gen?

I am in desperate need for some seats for my 1st gen. The driver's seat back is completely broken and I have it propped up with my mag lite . I was going to get some seats out of another runner but I've heard this is kind of a common problem and want to make sure I fix it for good as I am a pretty big guy which puts more stress on that seat.

Have any of you had success putting seats from other vehicles in? I can fab some brackets if need be but would prefer as close to bolt in as possible. Any ideas are appreciated!

Thanks!

Another Toyota seat should be fine. Unless you go to a fixed aftermarket seat your pretty much stuck.

I installed seats from a 95 4Runner into my 88 4RUnner.

I had to drill new holes for the inboard seat mounts, but the outside holes lined up just fine.

Got them from my local junk yard for $40 for the pair.

i've got a SCAT seat on back order from summit racing. they have a bracket for my 85 4runner. the seat wont be in until november, but i will either post when i get it installed, or you can PM me for more info at that time. this one measures a little bit taller than the factory seat, and it doesnt haved the features of my factory sr5 seat (vertical adjustment, dialed bolster, dialed lumbar). but it is bolstered and does recline. i sat on a floor model, and it will fit the bill nicely. here's the links

Yeah, I was looking at those and Corbeaus. I kinda decided though that a new seat would be a waste for me since I wheel and being a mechanic I'm often greasy and stuff. My passenger seat is fine so I really don't have to worry about the 2 door thing (unless I find a nice pair that will work), I'm probably just gonna replace the driver's seat and throw a set of cheap covers on them so they match. I don't care about all the SR5 type doodads (but wouldn't complain if I had them), all I need is something somewhat comfortable that reclines. Great info guys, please keep it coming!

pricey, true. i'm trying to save dollars (without sacraficing quality) on alot of my buildup, but there will be some pricey items by the time i am finished. besides capability, i am building this truck up for comfort as well (will be a p/t dd). due to the price, i am only replacing the drivers side. also, i am using the price of recaro seats to justify that i am actually SAVING money. ha!

early acura integra bucket seats. front holes should line up but the rear holes need a little work to get them to line up. i'd check spacing to make sure first before buying unless you happen to have free access to those seats.
