do you leave the half quart of ATF in your engine and just go or what

 

why don't people just pull the intake off,and properly clean it.not sure about the carb'd models(been too long since i had one),but the efi's intake comes off in less than 10-15 minutes,and you can truly see what is being cleaned and what is not,especially all those little vacuum ports,and all around the coldstart injector.then after you do this,seafoaming does more for your valves,as opposed to fighting all that grime that is surely there in the air chamber.as for the atf,i did that to my old '90 hilux 4x4,as per instructions by my best mate who is an import mechanic.he said to drain about one qt. of oil and fill with one qt. atf,drive for about 100 miles,then change the oil altogether.i seriously doubt it would do any harm another way,being as many engine oils have tranny additives to help with clean lubrication anyways.just my 2c.

 

Run it about 500 miles and change your oil..
That's what I did. Worked like a charm. And it IS a proper way to clean your engine, hell, just running the castrol gtx is a good way to do it.

so you guys recommend this? has anyone noticed any REAL results... or id there proof that this DOES clean the engine and doesn't harm anything? makes me nervous.....

 

That video looks about right. It's scary the first time, but that's normal. Do make sure you change your oil not too long after - it will be full of old, bad stuff that gets knocked off by the seafoam.

 

doing sea foam in the intake has never caused any problems for me on multiple vehicles and always seems to make them run better afterward, even had one old car that was pinging and running on after turning off the key and it completely cured the problem.

 

My truck is also running fine after the seafoam treatment, but I'm not sure how much is due to the seafoam, it was running good before I used it.

I do think that seafoam in your oil causes rubber seals to swell up. I had a hell of a time getting my oil filter off when it came time to change my oil after 100 miles, and I'm pretty sure that was from the seafoam making my oil filter's rubber seal to swell up.

 

Whoever owns that blue 4 Runner in 87's post above really ought to consider a valve adjustment soon !!!!

 

Its a few things.
Injector cleaner in the gas, desludger in the oil, and decarbonizer in the vac and other places.
Yes, it does work. Not as well as other things, but for 6 dollars, you really can't beat it.
Running ATF or marvel mystery oil will desludge your engine, injector cleaner will clean your injectors, and idk of any other decarbonizers.
Seafoam also works really well to clean crap out of the plenum with a brush. So its a decent solvent.
