Thanks for trying, but the All Poo one is hardly ultimate. Leaking and limited width, everything I look for in a custom solid axle.

I made the decision some time ago that when buy another rig, it will get a Diamond front axel.

When you figure in all the money it takes to fully build a Yota axel, having a Diamond housing just makes more sense.

 

It has a bad reputation.

You've got part toyota, part d60, and seals that work for one, or the other, but not both. It was a cute idea, but anytime you try to mix and mash things together, the results are seldom great.

The diamond is 900 for the housing, add 700 for longfields. Trail gear comes with almost everything needed to build the rest of the axle in the kit. So, add 200 "oops i forgot" dollars, and you are looking at an 1800 dollar axle. All pro sits at 4400.

I've seen the results of a ruined longfield before, it came out of a truck with 44's that drives on trails that make me cringe. The axle twisted, but did not break, and the axles are lifetime guarantee, so if you do manange to bust one, you won't be out any money.

As for scout d44's etc... keep in mind that these axles have caster angles different from the toy's. Scout's in particular (we own two). You try and slap that baby under a toy with a lift pack, and you'll either have severe driveline binding, or you'll have death wobble out the wazoo. (i learned a lot about death wobble today, and caster is a big player). Toy axles also need to have the caster set, but you'll find things much easier to deal with for a toy axle.

The Dana axles seal at the diff, the Toy's at the knuckle.

People always throw the 44-60 idea around, but forget that it is not a pure slam dunk. I am pretty 44 ignorant, but nothing comes to mind as a sprung over front with a passenger diff, which is what the Toy has. You can move things and add perches, but that is extra work.

As for sources, look for a local seller, otherwise buy a truck and part it.

 

Oh, Isaac was on the phone with me and I am not sure how many of those Toy-60's exist from AP.

You can get a better version from Diamond with more clearance, custom width and a stronger center, but if you are starting from scratch that sure looks like pissing away money.

I learned a lot about death wobble by talking with adrian....I didn't learn enough...My apologies for posting bad info there.

I remember the conversation with jon, just was talking out of the old rear end again (happens to me frequently).
