safe to run with speedometer cable unplugged?

Is it safe to drive with the speedometer cable disconnected or is there a possibility of oil leakage?

Thanks!

Stuff a clean rag in the hole. It'll do for a test run. Oil isn't gonna be pressurized there, so you shouldn't loose much.
