Any reason why you didn't run the piping through inside of the fender?
Is there not enough room in there?
I don't like the fact that you pipe you nice, cool air right in front of the headers.
I've got a 93, so I might have more room under the fender. I'll see what I can pipe together, and I'll post it up.

I don't know about that snorkel set up but I ran my piping under the fender. It's not sealed or a snorkel by any stretch of the word but it works.

I don't understand why they just didn't make it longer down the fender till it reached the fender area beside where the bottom of the air filter box and just go straight into the box and getting rid of all that plumbing pipes snaking there way in the engine bay with alot of turns to disrupt air flow, I don't get it!!!!

Do they make that snorkel in a passenger side mount? I would prefer mine closer to the intake.

I also am wondering this. I want to do the batt intake swap, and was thinking of a snorkel also

I haven't seen anything other than homebrew snorkels on the passenger side, but I don't get out much, so...

Also, I'm curious if you are concerned about radiant heat from your manifold affecting the ABS pipe? IIRC, that dimension pipe should be no more than 1/8" thick, so the heat I imagine would take it toll, it not flat out melting it, at least heat cycling it until it becomes brittle. Perhaps a heat shield/insulation/shroud to help deflect some heat? Looks sharp otherwise. I got jealous on the pic of the watercrossing

I spent some time in the plumbing aisle and I managed to figure out a decent way to pipe my snorkel.

I drilled a hole through the inner fender. Used a pipe coupler to connect some 2" vacuum hose (like the hose on your shop vac) to the air box. I sealed up the stock air box, cut off the cone on the outside and plumbed the vac hose right into the air box.
I spent maybe $35 for the vac hose, pipe coupler and some plumbing glue.

PS: plumbing glue does not like heat. I would recommend using some high temp RTV or some other type of silicone. Plumbing glue just doesn't cut it.

Guess I'm stuck with cutting the hood and mounting that pig under a scoop.

The mount is easy enough to make it just looks freaking strange. *grin*
What ever happened to this idea? It looks like one of those things that is so stupid it's absolutely brilliant!

Ah I decided against it and just ran a pipe through the passengers side fender up into the cowl area for some cooler air. Planning on a ABS snorkel set up if I can find the time.

Was there seriously enough space for the filter to fit on top of the motor with just a hood scoop? From the pics, it looks like the scoop would have to be ridiculously big to fit the filter, but appearances can be deceiving.

*laugh* I don't think it would have. That thing was like 6" up above the hood line. I had actually traced out the cuts to make so the filter, top of the Supra AFM (MAF, what ever it's called), the red connection part and some of the hose would be visible above the hood. Kind of a Mad Max type cut out (you know, that blower he had sticking up out of the Police Turbo Interceptor). It would have been freaking sick/stupid/funny/crazy and a great topic for random discussions on the trail.

Hey man, I'm just looking for an excuse to weld in a hood scoop!
