Running lights turn on under their own will

So this has become a on going problem this year. Today when I got home I parked the truck in the drive way. After turning the lights off, I turned the engine off and started walking towards the front door. I noticed something lit up behind me, turn around to see my running lights are now on I put the key in the ignition, and they turned back off....

So with the lights off, I went inside. A couple hours later I notice my lights are on again Inserting the key did nothing, so I cycled the ignition a few times. Each time I turned it to run, the lights would turn off. At this point I was ready to disconnect the battery for the night, popped the hood and was about to get a wrench. Then I decided to fire it up, and hope that the engine heat would dry out what ever connection is getting wet. I let it run for 15 minutes or so, and turned it off. The lights stayed off this time

To add to this mystery, I noticed the blower motor was running when I found the lights were back on the second time. I had left the switch on low.

So to sum it up

Lights switch turned off, fan switch on low
Key on run, lights and fan are off
Key on acc, lights and fan are on
Key on off, lights and fan are on
Keys removed from ignition, lights and fan are on

Only does it when road conditions are wet, seems to stop once something drys out.

So where should I be looking, and what should I be looking for?

I would look for a point in the wiring that the power wires for those two things (and a power source) are located beside eachother.

Might be a bit of water is leaking in and creating a bridge.. Consult the FSM for wiring...

I will take a peek in my fsm aswell...

Maybe they are wired to the constant for the radio...?
I'd check back there first...

what? the radio should not be on a constant power wire but rather an accessory... and the headlights are on their own circuit...

check the relays... maybe the relay is toast and keeps sending power to them... or there is moisture in the relay itself... something along those lines...

i had a problem similar to this with my a/c fan in front of the condensor... i would turn off my truck but the fan would come on on its own...
since my a/c dont work, i just pulled the relay for it...

did you ever figure this out? I'm having the EXACT same issue. I turn off my 2000 4runner and yank the key from the ignition but my daytime running lights are still on and the fan will still blow air.

I just wired in an amp and maybe this has something to do with it. I'm going to yank it out to see if it makes a difference. I can't figure this one out.

I probably should have posted up what the problem ended up being, in case anyone finds this thread while searching. The main fuse box on the drivers side kick panel was corroded due to water leaking through a rust hole in the firewall that I had yet to patch. I pulled the fuse box apart and cleaned it up and put it back together.

Why would you post a solution to a problem when the solution has already been discovered?

Why did you feel the need to ask that question?
