Rubbing Tires

Rubbing Tires

Alright, short and sweet, just bought a BEAUTIFUL, RUSTLESS, Two tone 93 toyota 5spd v6 pickup with a 2" body lift, 32 inch tires and 235000 km. Payed 8000 canadian, which is a bit steep but the truck is pretty much flawless. That is to say, besides the fact that the last 5 degrees (approx) of my turning radius leads to a very unfortunate rubbing of tire on metal (firewall side, little metal arm, about half inch wide, I can tell because the rock guard is worn off in this spot). Are 1/4 inch spacers the way to go? Will these compromise my lag bolts' strength? What are my other options, it is a such a small amount of rubbing, but the annoyance factor of not being able to crank my wheel the whole to way to park is enought to justify spending some money to fix it. I have been told offset "Steelys" could also fix the problem, but at 100 a rim vs 20 bucks for a pair of spacers, I Would like to opt for the easy way out. Any thoughts or suggestions will be much appreciated!!!

I had this problem on my 85, one thing to do it to adjust the steering bolts behind the wheel, this will hurt your turn radius but keep the wheels from turning into the metal. You might still have some problems though when the axle is articulated and turning at the same time.

You are probibly rubbing on the pinch weld. Most guys will cut or beat this peice with a BFH for clearance. Its unnoticable when its done....

Or you can adjust your steering stops to prevent the wheel from turning that far. ( there are 4 in total)
