Rubber bumpers, fuel and drivers door

I tried a few searches but these seem odd questions, perhaps I' looking in the wrong places?

Both the drivers door and the fuel fill door are missing their rubber bumper stops.

I have these from a parts truck

The size prevents them from falling out,.... ah but getting them in????

The hole on the back gave me an idea... but it didn't work either

Any one put these things have some ideas, wrapping dental floss then shoving through??

Also the drivers door rattles w/o its little bumper, is it the same to put in as fuel door or will it be easy

Part number "handy" for door bumpers?

they look like this from the passengers side

Thanks for your time.

those are WAY too big to sqeez into that hole

ideally, you would poke the tip of the rubber point in, and grab it with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull it through from the back, but that might be a major pain because of where they're at

I would try and find some smaller ones; you're never going to get those in there

just cut the little rubber thing down a little. don't drill into your truck. When installing it use a little rtv and call it good.

Gas Door Interior Bumpers (Cushtions) 07-2012 on 1994 Pickup 22R-E

Hi..

thank you for the great pictures and work. I have a 1994 22R-E w/174,000 miles on it (I) and it had the same bumper issue. But I fixed it today!

The small gas door (gas cover) bumper couldn't be pushed through the provided little hole (the hole the old one came out of). I would not drill the hole larger, that could start a rust issue with non-painted (exposed) metal. An earlier post suggested this.

I did get my bumper cushion in; I asked my mechanic to try and he pushed it through with his hand and some thick tooth paste like shop grease on it. It only took him like 20 sec. So I had tried olive oil earlier on my own on the back side of the stop, but the shop grease seemed to be the difference. He may have just been stronger than me also.

Also the Toyota dealership that I got it from gave it this part number as of 07-09-12 # 90541-06058 and their description called it a cushion.

Yeah..I need to get some of the gas door stoppers. Months ago now, went down and filled up the tank, here in Oregon, we're bassackwards, can't pump our own gas...so the mouthbreather fuel attendant steals my little rubber bits. Wouldn't confess, so I told the manager I wasn't coming back. So its nice to see the part no. pop up here.

I live in OR also and like the attendants at gas stations - it creates job right? Albeit they are low paying jobs; I do know if the attendants were not there our gas price would NOT go down.

It would be impossible to steal them with out ruining them (breaking them), once they are in they are in until they break off. That is what happened to my old stopper/bumper, it popped off and rolled out of the door. It just rotted through. Eh.. it's was like 18 years old (the truck is a 1994). But possibly in your case the attendant just snapped them off as some sort of a retaliation? or just being a d. head type of thing to do?

Let us know how you get yours in and where you picked them up from? Take picture if you can. Maybe you can find a junk yard to find some? I am playing with the post icons.

I don't care if he destroyed them or not getting them out, they were mine, they were there when used my key to unlock it, and gone when I came back. I hate thieves, and I can't use the language here to decribe how much I hate them.
I've been a pump monkey, so I don't care for attendants either way. I know how to pump my gas, I've lived abroad, and I'm an Oregon native. I don't think they should be mandatory.
BUT! You're right, gas wouldn't come down without them.

That's what she said....

I pumped gas for a few months... Really saved my a$$... But with that being said, I am so happy to not live in OR anymore and I HAVE to pump my own gas. My dad lost 3 gas caps when he owned the truck, so I learned real quick to get out, open the fuel door, and stand at the back of the truck till they were done.

I knew someone was going to drop a "thats what she said"

I've put in lots of those little rubber things. Every time I have to repair a box side they have to come out. Twist and pull to get em out, then spit on em, twist and push to get em in. The key is in the twist. Easy peazy.

God I love this forum!

Just TODAY I finished my home paint job reassembly of everything and I had two 'extra parts' - the above mentioned bumpers. I could not figure out where these went for the life of me. Part of the problem is that my painting venture has taken about 6 weeks (summer in Arizona is our down time) since the disassembly and I'm not getting any younger.

My bumpers, however popped right in.

Perfect timing.

I just ordered 2 from Toyota @ $6.17 or so a piece. Had a pain getting them in there but it works great now and the fuel door doesn't sink into the fill tube area.

Seems like you're supposed to push a small dowel/pin through that little hole in the front and it will stretch the back of the rubber stopper as you push it in - making it longer and thinner.

Fuel door bumpers found

I found some fuel door/other door bumpers that may work. I was missing them on my truck and these worked for me.
