I like the look of the roll bar with a bunch of lights. Even if it's not particularly practical it looks sweet in my opinion. Course I have a tool box and no light bar so I suppose I'm being slightly hypocritical. That small tool box that Grant526 has is most intriguing.
I love that truck. I remember re-winding that part 50million times when I was a kid

My 3vze gets me past 80mph without a beat

my tired 22re struggled to keep the PU at 65mph... upwind...
the rebuild in process should change that though

dude... its ok... I already miss your light bar... put it back on... and you should check out Lightforce lights... put 3 or 4 9 inchers up there and then get HID kits to retrofit into them... light porn... giggity...
im planning on getting another set of roof rails and seeing if i can extend them to the front of my 4runner and then im going to build a full 4runner length roof rack... on the front im going to make a special mount so that i can quick connect/disconnect a set of lightforce lights in a little cage, much like the BAJA buggies have... that way i can put them on for night...

I really like the look with the rollbar....that being said i would never put one on my truck because i need all the bed. If you dont need all the bed. Keep the roll bar. It looks sweeeeeet.

Keep it. I've got 5 Daylighters on mine facing front, and 2 utility lights facing to the rear. The utility lights come in handy when loading firewood at night, or after the movies at the drive-in.
My bar is a Smittybuilt, and the light bar is raised above the "roll bar". The only place the light shines where it shouldn't is the side view mirrors.
I'd like to know where you got that toolbox, grant. That could fit in front of my spare.

And I love my "load" light on the back of my roll bar!!!! (And YES it works GREAT for Tailgaters. . .)
Hehe! Im lucky, my girlfriend drives a 4runner, so I get both
Yeah, they look great! I was also thinking of putting 4 big lights right over the front window, pre-runner style... but I dont have the guts to drill holes in my roof!

Sorry for the Hi-Jack!!
Get some decent looking lights (4 or more preferably) for your bar and leave it in! I got a standard 2" trailer lights plug and ran all the power leads for the light through it under the bed, that way if I want to pull the bar, all I have to do is unbolt, unplug and go!!
No futzing with undoing/cutting and marking wires.

Thats what im going to do.
I Need to drill out the mounting holes on the roll bar, so I can move it about an inch forward (would look much nicer!!) and im hoping to tac weld the bolts to the roll bar.
So when I want to uninstall it I just loosen off the nuts and pull it right out. I have quick release wiring connectors I will rig up so I can easily take it it out, on the chance that I really need the extra bed space.
Woot!!
roll bars are awsume

Put it back.

Roll bars look good in our trucks. It is just the era of the pickup. The back to the future truck was the cool truck of the day. And we have the tail end of that era. I just wish my roll bar was a little shorter. It is a little high on the cab. I really cant complain though. I got it for $50 and it is in awesome shape.

[QUOTE=Jay351;51137228]I really like that toolbox you have. Fits right in there! Best of both right? I mean, a toolbox pretty much takes up all that room...
I originally wanted to run 4 big lights up there (any recomendations for a light that will work up there?) but with my two hellas I had some issues. The light spilled in from my back window, like alot! The whole back seat is eluminated. I suppose some flat metal could be bolted to the mount to block the light..... Look kinda silly though, no?
Wanna hear something funny? I miss the roll bar already!
totally, the "roll" bar is made of super thin rusty metal. Heck I only bolted it on with 6 big bolts.
I love the way a roll bar looks

Ya! That's exactly what I was going for when I bought the bar and box! And I gotta make a Shout out to Space-Junk for finding the bar for me!! Thanks!
As far as lights go. I'm a traditional KC lights kind of a guy.
The way my bar supports the lights puts them over the top of the cab nicely. Eliminating any light from coming in through the back window. My lights are also close enough to center that I don't have any issue with them shining in the mirrors either, but I do get A LOT of light on the hood and next to the cab on the ground
KC lights (like Daylighters) mount high and set forward of the mounts better than the Hella 500.

Versus

The Hella lights are like was mentioned before, designed for bumper use.
Trust Me!! I know the feeling of missing the bar! I've only pulled my bar once, to get my Bedliner sprayed in. And I missed it for the day or so that it was out! lol I also have a camper that came on the truck, but I'm pretty sure I would miss the bar and lights to much to actually pull it and run the camper for a while.
I know MOST rollbars are actually just "show bars" and just light bars, but they do add some additional support in the event of a roll over.

ANOTHER VOTE FOR PUT IT THE F#$% BACK IN!!!!!!!!!!!
you gotta be with the rest of us rollbar rockin peeps!..
and i know how you feel about the light inside the cab..i got a couple of 100W daylighter knockoffs...and its perty bad..lights up my whole back cab as well..(mines an '86)..i have pencil beam lights though..and they WILL light up the ENTIRE road....
and for those A$$HOLES that think its funny to bright-light people...hit em with the 100Ws!!!!..i've done it numerous times..(luckily i havent gotten caught by the cops yet...
)
when i get my new front bumper..im probably gonna get a set of BRIGHT BRIGHT BRIGHT (BRIGHTEST I CAN FIND) lights for it...i seen some 4in HID 4wheeler lights for sale at autozone for like $120..seen em in action..and they are GREAT..idk how rugged they are though...i need some TUFF lights..lol some that will withstand some serious abuse and keep on shining!
i found a guy to paint my truck too..and when i get it painted jet black..im gonna redo my bedliner..5% tint...with some Green underglow...piss off all the rice burners around here that cant afford the stuff..idk how it'll hold up to some mud though...LOL!!!!might just get some utility lights and mount them as rocklights...
i have noticed one thing...a truck can never have too many lights..
and these "rollbars" DO hold up to a rollover..at least mine did..the previous owner of my '80 rolled it with my rollbar in the bed and it saved the cab...still had a couple small dents..but nothing a good solid hit from the inside didnt fix...so idk about these other rollbars...but mine IS strong enough to handle a flop...idk about a roll at highway speeds..but a flop at low speeds yes..

take a gander at their output... and their durability... it is incredible...

Dude, I love my LightForce. They are faded, one has a heat swelling, are about 5 years old and I rigged them directly to the battery and they STILL lit the road up like the sun. Plus, the blue filter made it so much easier to see moose in the dead of winter with snow on the ground and more coming down. I was almost foolish enough to sell them a few weeks ago.
