Roll bar, take it or leave it?

So!

I have come to realize a few things about my all too loved roll bar.

It takes up ALOT of room, doesnt fit as nice as I would like and well.. the lighting up top is almost useless as its not really 'usable' light...

So, should I leave it in , or take it out?

I vote to take it out. You could even sell it for a few bucks to put toward something else.
The only real advantage of it could be to attach things to it.

Good Call Brian, thats exactly what my old lady told me, sell it and make some money!

I really love the look of roll bars, and they are great for tying stuff too, and for grabbing onto..

Il probibly take it out and throw it in the backyard, I might rig up some quick release bolts so I can put it back in sometimes...

I actually had the hella fog lights on my front bumper and the driving lights on the roof.

But now with my new hella e-codes, the fog lights don't really do anything. So I put the driving lights down on the front bumper and they work really well there.

So now the fogs are up on the roll bar (totally useless).

so If I take the roll bar off, the fogs will be going onto my girfriends 4runner (she has been beggin for lights for awhile now). I have a set of 4" yellow fogs im going to mount under the front bumper

So whats the total so far.... 3 votes to take it out, 0 to keep it

I say take it out for a while then see how you like it. Then if you really miss it, put it back in.

KEEP IT!!!

its all about the style, bro, and our trucks are, sadly, stuck in the 90s... keep it in there for nostalgia purposes...

Personally, I think it looks equally good with or without it... it really fits the truck as far as looks goes, but it doesn't really look ike something's missing when it's off

I think out trucks look amazing with roll bars. Plus, they are also useful for attaching things like hi-lifts or fire extinguishers. That being said, I sold mine because it took up a lot of useful space in our already undersized truck beds. So they definitely have their pros and cons.

Like others have suggested, leave it out for a month or so. If you really miss it, put it back in. If you find that you like the extra space in your truck bed, then sell it and make some $$.

Yup, looks better off. It looks like your truck just grew a pair.
Maybe you could make bend some tube to create a horizontal bar that uses the mount points of the roll bar to mount stuff to.

Why do people put driving and / or fog lights above the cab? The whole point of those lights is to cut under the fog / mist where it's less dense and maximize reflections for greater visibility? There are federal regulations regarding light placement (including driving and fog lights) and I know you're not in the USA....
so ................

I want to put the bar on Sin91's truck so... how much?
let her know so she can pay you.

Yeah, that was a major delemma for me. I have a 60" hi-lift that I need to mount somwhere. I was originally going to weld mounts to the roll bar..

Im defantly not selling it yet. I have a feeling you will be seeing it on there again with some modifications.. but for the time being, we will remain rollbarless..

Thats what I was thinking. I already drilled the dang holes in my bed, so I might aswell rig something up to use them. I could probibly just lay the lift flat ontop of the wheel well, make a support for the end near the cab, and use bolts and wingnuts to make it removable...

I put driving lights up top originally because I thought they would work better up there. I had my fog lights on my bumper.

But I upgraded my headlights from $5 replaceables, to E-codes with 100w bulbs. Now the fogs really didnt do anything for me.
So I wanted to see what the driving lights were like on the bumper.
SO I just swapped them to keep apperances up. I found I really liked the driving lights up on the bumper (yellowish light, nice in the rain).

So the fogs are not really doing anything now.

You can have lights wherever you want as long as they are covered on the road.. Im just to lazy to put the covers back on....

I think I might put 4 big flood lights up on the roll bar.... hmm
