Rock assault assembly issues

I just installed a rock assault housing under the front of my 4runner. IFS width, e-locker, dirty 30s. The short side all went in fine, but the long side axle is binding up when the spindle goes on. It feels like the axle is in all the way, but it's like I need another 1/4 inch to clear the spindle. It's not a problem with knuckle shims or any of that. It's either the birf is touching the inside of the knuckle ball and not letting it seat all the way, or the axle is too long, those are the only things that make sense to me. I put the short side axle in the long side just to test it out and it seemed like the birf cleared fine. And the dirty 30 axles were in my stock housing previously and i mever had an issue! I'm getting frustrated trying to figure this out, hoping that somebody will have an idea. Thanks
