I knew I shoulda kept that truck... I beg to differ. I once had an 4WD Ex cab that had a 22RE and A340f. That thing had 33's and would powerbrake. I even drove it for the 1st few days w/o an injector wire, and it went ok. It was NICE when I put the wire back on.

It had a slow quiet power, and with the easy take off and un-optimistic speedo, it can easily be mistaken for slow... But you had to use more than your ears to tell...

note the f transfer case and not the crappy "2nd torque converter" H.

I'm jealous of your gears...i like my veezy, but it's pretty slow.

it's funny watching the progression of this thread...

my humble opinion to the OP, get her a civic. my wife loves hers...they're easy to work on, "cute", economical, and with 140k on the odo i never worry about it leaving her stranded. just my .02.

How about a Corolla, let's keep it Toyota here?

When I've worked on my friends' Honders, they were NOT easy to work on. Harder than my 3VZE, where you have to pull the P/S pump and A/C just to remove the PAIR valve. And on the Honder motocycles, the bolt heads often strip with my Cropsman wrenches, like they're made with the cheapest metal that could hold the part on. Honders are great, don't ever have to work on them, until you do, and then life is miserable.

I hate to say it, but I rather have a Honda car than a Toyota car...

And neither are going to be easy to work on...

Oh wait, and nothing, neither of the two up to a few years ago... I hate new vehicles...

Yeah, early model late 90's-mid 2000 Honda... God I'm getting old...FAST!

Just bought my first 4Runner with a 3VZE motor and Im starting to get nervous reading this thread. I guess you never know which is the best setup untill after you buy yours. How does the 3.4 swap work? Is there a thread about it here somewhere? I dont need a new engine yet, but Im sure I will in the next few years considering I have about 190,000 on this motor, and it might come in handy to have a 3.4 motor around waiting for when the time comes.

"BUT.... on craigslist I found a '74 Dart for a good price. I wouldn't have to deal with smog any more, they get pretty good mileage, and my wife likes the look of it. If it has A/C, then it might be a winner. I will see about looking at it tomorrow and go from there. "

Sorry, can't figure out how to multi-quote on this forum.

Anyway, I know money is tight man, but I don't think I'd put my wife and 3 month old in a '74 Dodge Dart. Regardless of the safety features, or lack thereof, how reliable to do you think a 35 year old cars is gonna be for them to get around in?

You can get a good reliable compact for pretty cheap, I saw a Corolla mentioned, good choice.

good lord man...the title of this thread is a LITTLE misleading, but the OP clearly asked some opinion-seeking questions, none of which you addressed...this is definitely not the place to ask questions about the 3.4 swap. it is VERY well documented, if fact, it has it's own sub forum!!!

all that being said, welcome to yotatech, take care of your engine and it'll take care of you. there's tons of good info here.

I'd take a honda car over a toyota car too!! and totally agree that the 70s dart is a bad idea. hijack=over

Thanks....found that part of the forum AFTER I posted that. I found this forum in a Google search, and I'm still getting used to the layout.

I have not had any problems with my 3.0, runs as solid as my 22re did.
