Rig Bucked very hard doing 70mph

I was crusing along this morning doing around 70, all of a sudden, the rig bucked very hard and then it was fine.

I was told maby it was the trans shifting into high. At the time, I was doing around 70 mph, and I would think by then it would be in high. I was also told that maby the trans was cold, but I was already driving for 35 min's, and would think it be warmed up by then.

I will sey this tho, it was very windy and very cold around 15-18. Wind chill around O. I was maby thinking it was a little gass line freeze.

Any help on this would be great.

Dude, you post alot of random questions about your car. Maybe you're a little paranoid, relax, if it drives fine don't worry about it.

Yea, maybe perhaps you weren't in high and you unintentionally stepped on the skinny pedal it and shifted. Sounds normal if that's the case, since it operated fine afterwards, you shouldn't have too much to worry about, that's my guess.

Maybe it got cooled off enough for a second for it to cancel overdrive. Kind of like it does in the mornings before it warms up. Then again maybe you should drive by there in another car and look for a body.

Dude put the crack pipe down for a minute and reread what you typed it makes no sense to me... I didn't know transmissions had "high" and "gass line freeze" ???? WTF? Your gonna have to give a little better description for people to help besides a buck going down the freeway.

I think by high he means from 5th (OD) to 3rd or 4th,. Was it on a grade or flat road?

i wasn't aware toyota autos had a 5th gear

it probably wasn't anything to be concerned about if its still driving fine. if you suddenly had no acceleration, i'd say look out the rear view mirror for your tranny

I suspect it went into "fuel cut" caused by a dirt speed sensor in the speedo head. If it sees a double pulse instead of the normal one, it instantlyu thinks its going twice as fast (in your case, 140 mph) and it shuts off the injectors. CHeck codes to see if you have a code #42, speed sensor code.

I know this is pertaining to the 2nd gen, but my third gen did a similar thing, and had a nice loud bang to it, I thought I either blew out my rear, of something went god awful in the Tranny, but after the little kick, wouldn't you know the tranny felt tighter and more responsive then other, I even could start pulling off the dukes of hazard power drifts.... (however since then it has lost that nice little kick and was back tot he way it was before the buck)

If it is driving fine still I am sure your fine.

What toyota_mdt_tech said sound like it might have been it

It could be the tranny shift lever wasnt all the way into D. Sometimes my shifter will show the orange in the D indicator but still be in 3. It may have been sticking in 3rd and appeared to not be warmed up, then slapped from 3rd into OD when the shifter popped all the way into D

Calm down man.....
internet flaming isn't the answer. Drama online is ridiculous.

It was pretty obvious to me what he was talking about, and it seems that way to most people who gave an answer that was at least related to the question.
