WOW This is some thread. I wish I was your buddy. Nobody would do all that for me! LOL. Seriously I have never seen a computer board like that before. We work on a lot of ECMs out of Hondas. Do you still have it? You could fix this. They have all the resistors and what nots at Radio Shack, (I am not really a nerd, I just like the Shack). It would be VERY time consuming but you would have a spare. Out of curiosity how much was the new ECM and were you able to source it in the aftermarket or dealer?

Oh yeah, I meant to say in the previous post,

I have never ever heard of a shop "cleaning" an ECM. What good would cleaning it do anyway? If you have a work order and it states that, and if you can say positively that the ECM had not been apart, that sounds like as good a Better Business Bureau complaint as I've ever heard. Possibly complain to someone with more authority also.

Probably what they meant was they disconnected the harness and sprayed some electrical terminal cleaner on the pins and hooked it back up but $110? for that? I would go back and ask the guys at that "shop" just to see what they say. Either way I would say that someone got ripped off.

No wonder all the other "proffesional" mechanics I know live nicer than me, I know why now, it's cause I am cheap and honest.

Sorry for bringing up a dead thread but Ive learned my lessons time and time again. Unless theres more to the story you should test stuff before replacing it, sounds like you were just throwing money at it, sure it may fix it eventually but after $$$s of spent replacing working parts it seems pointless.

we WERE testing these parts. but it being intermittent and not being caused when we hit a certain rpm, speed, bump or anything the parts would read all of the same--- good. when it was not acting up it would run excellent. as stated before the shop could not figure it out either.
by replacing these parts and testing them to see if they were the problem we were able to be for sure it was not that part due to the intermittency. we found NO shorts in wires doing continuity checks and all parts checked out with the ignition on when it was acting up. in the end all we bought was the computer and even if we had to keep all of the other parts 200k would have been a good time to start replacing these parts and a truck that has newer parts on it AND RUNNING is better than a truck that just sits there not running .
