Resonator Box Removal

ok, so I have a 91, 3vze pickup.

im in the process of just fixing a lot of things that the Previous Owner has " Rigged ". and doing a lot of other stuff on the way,

I have quite abit of money into this truck right now so a ISR mod is out of the question for a lil while ( I know its cheap ive looked into it )

but while I was looking at my intake, My Resonator box has a line in the lower portion of it, and it was broken off and the prev owner Hot Glued the line in the box and it prolly heated up and fell off at some point idk.... I know, im dealing with a real engineer!

so ive done research on the site but I could not find the right answer for me,

so can I just remove this box and the weird shaped one under it>?

if so can I just plug where the lines go or put a filter on them>?

you all poblly see where im going with this so any help will be fine, I cant get you any pics till my girlfriend gets home with her smart phone!

any help would be great,

and I plan to ISR mod, just not right away! I got a lot of other work to do

The super el-cheapo method: remove resonator boxes, replace with caps. (Homemade or bought) reroute any hoses to appropriate connection points. Friend of mine did his for maybe 10 bucks and 30 minutes. Looks kinda ugly, but effective.

From reading these boards, you'll see you'll want to keep the top resonator box. Removing it leads to a host of annoying noises described as everything from engine knocking/pinging to engine gurgling.

The lower box can be removed and is the box that's part of the intake silencer removal (ISR) mod.

To note, your engine will run w/o it, but it'll be annoying.
