Resistance question VAF

Been trying to track down a slight hesitation bogging issue on my 94 3vze. TPS is new and set correctly, unplugging it issue goes away.

I was checking the resistance per the FSM on the VAF and all check out except for one that I am in question on. When checking the resistance across E1 & FC the FSM states I should have zero resistance across them, "other than closed position". So I take that to mean mean when the blade is fully closed resistance = infinity, and any movement of the blade I should see 0 resistance. In my case it takes approx 1/4 in of movement of the blade until I register a 0 resistance. So should the slightest movement trigger 0 resistance or is what I'm experiencing normal?

Well, lucky you. I happened to have mine sitting on the bench so I went and checked for myself. It's working perfectly, I just don't have the engine in the truck at the moment. Mine wants to open about 1/8", but not quite 1/4", before triggering 0 resistance. Not too sure if that's normal or not. But like I said, I'm sure it's functioning correctly.

Edit: I eye-balled that pretty close. I just measured it at roughly 3/16"-7/32" with a steel rule.

Awesome I like being lucky, usually it is not that way, anyhow thanks Mudhippy sounds like it maybe normal then. I maybe a little off as the 1/4 was an approx, it falls more in the range you mention.

On to checking other things, fixing the egr improved it tremendously but still having a slight hesitation/bogging at light throttle/part throttle. Doesn't do it when dead cold nor with the TPS unplugged.

Could be an issue in the wiring harness leading to the TPS...

Hope not!!!! Think I may have made some progress. I readjusted the TB blade (fully closed then a 1/4 turn on the throttle stop screw) then the TPS last night and it really seemed to help. So maybe I was having an issue with the VAF reading one thing and the TB seeing something else.

Zero resistance is normal as soon as the measuring plate moves. That tells the ECU the engine is running and vacuum is pulling on the plate. This means, since FP is the fuel switch, the pump will continue to run. It'll open more than 1/4" when the engine is running, so no problems there.

Test the TPS at the ECU connector and compare your readings to what you got at the sensor. Maybe you have a bad connection at the terminals.
