Question replacing windshield trim

ive got a 91 pickup and there was no trim around the front windshield except for the top piece. so i took that off and it seemed to be glued in with the windshield sealant. my question is where whould i pick up a front windshield trim kit and what do you call the sealant that is used on the windshield because apparently im gonna have to glue the top piece, but it looks like the sides clip in. any suggestions would be great thanks guys.

there's another thread on here somewhere couple months ago talking about this. Basically, as far as anyone can tell the dealership is the only place to get the trim parts, and they are pricey. $300+ for all 8 peices IIRC. I had the glass guy put on some generic stuff he had when I had my windshield replaced and it looks pretty good. Not sure it would work without replacing the windshield though. 4-crawler did something a little different, he has pics on his site.

If you ever get the parts, let me know how you put them in. I took mine out to paint them, and I havnt been able to get them to seat right after....

i havent put my trim back on after the paint job yet either. what im going to do is apply 3M WINDOW WELD (<thats what its called.) around the whole windshield and then apply the trim over that.. so that the window weld sealant acts as the glue for the trim aswell as sealing the windshield.

one thing i have found out though. in attempt to get all of the trim off of a couple junkyard trucks, you can reuse every piece except for the top strip.. when you peel it up it always bends and will never bend back into shape. that piece is a one time only deal.

I got it almost 100% back to shape. (Shouldve left it on!!!) But getting it to seat back in, seems to be impossible..

A "Automobile Detailer" should know this!

3M Window Weld Urethane 10.5 Oz tube - $15 @ Kragen Auto Parts.

Redding Pick-n-Pull has the trim for the windshield.
