replacing the factory front crossmember

i finished my bumper, only to realize it was pointless in using it with the front cross member being weak. since i can picture things better than i can cad or draw with sketch up and sw's. this drawing wont look right to some.

i plan on cutting out the cross member and replacing it with 28"x 2" C channel

cut the ends at a 45* angle, weld on the pieces to slide into the frame/weld to frame and drill 2 holes through the center of the frame and bolt with grade 12's. and 4 tabs of 1/2" thick steel plate

if im looking or thinking wrong somebody correct me

You'd rather do this than just adding a reinforcement plate?

as soon as i get a chance to hit the metal supplier. i got to idea from 4x4wire if i remember correctly, he was talking about how his was bent and warped. i'll cut the pieces first weld them together tabs and all, to keep the heat off the frame then run a few small beads to both

sure why not ? if i feel that i need super pro welder to do the welding to the frame and to make sure that the front of the frame doesn't warp the least lil bit or move outta place i'll take it to a super pro and have them do it. i even thought about using a solid piece instead of the channel
