Hello all. I went off of a reccomendation to clean the MAF and ended up damaging it. I ordered a new one (chinese made) and installed it and the engine will crank but still not start over. Does anybody have any advice as to what the issue might be? Its a 22re. Ive disconnected the battery in an attempt to reset it. Theres no blown fuses. The car was running and started up promptly before i damaged the maf.. I could use some help
Don't tell me, lemme guess:
Welcome to YotaTech. There's a pretty good chance you've messed up the FC (fuel control) circuit, and the fuel pump is not running. Fortunately, it the easiest thing on your whole truck to diagnose. Jumper FP to B+ in your diagnostic connector. With key-on, you should hear the pump running. If your truck starts now, you've found (one of) the problems. Since your truck doesn't start-and-die in a few seconds, you probably have an open in the STArt circuit of the ignition switch as well.
Just so you know, you don't have an MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor, Chinese or otherwise. You (should) have a VAF (Volume Air Flow) sensor. Different technology.
