Repairing and Upgrading - 92 Pickup DLX

Struggling with replacements - would like advice

I have a 1992 Toyota Pickup DLX that I am trying to restore and upgrade. I have a new radio that should fit (not OEM) and understand that I will have to take the whole dash off to get to it. However, I am struggling with two other parts.

The first are the door lock bezels. I saw another post on Reddit about how people have used super glue or epoxy, and I can go that route, but the problem I am experiencing is: when I place the bezel and then unlock the door, it catches the actual knob and pops back off the door. Is this a situation where it needs to be sanded down to allow the knob to freely move up and down without catching, or could I use a heat gun to expand the plastic sides? Just wondering if anyone else has done this replacement and how it worked for you.

The second is the Reverse light inside the dash. When putting it in reverse, the orange light behind the dash that notifies "you are in reverse" is out. I have tried looking on YouTube for a video with no avail. Is this a simple "remove the dash, take out the glass, and replace the light" or something much more complex?
Please be gentle, I'm new to restoring vehicles. lol

So yes all the dash panels get pulled to get to the receiver, I’m an expert at this point as far as the bezels, I had to replace both of mine as they were both cracked and loose. When I ordered them I thought they would just pop out and pop in but they are part of the door panel so yes they do need to be glued. I just used a couple tiny dabs of super glue and they have been fine.

BUT I did have your same issue on the passenger side, it was super tight, so I ended up having to bend the lock puller shaft just the slightest to loosen it up, I guess years of pulling tweaked it a bit, also make sure you have the lock puller tight and matching the bezel when you screw it on or it will catch if all that makes sense.

So as far as your reverse light, I don’t have an auto so I’m not sure what bulb is used, but it isn’t that hard to pull the cluster once you have the dash out for the stereo. There is only two bulb sizes in my cluster which are 194 bulb or a 74 mini wedge bulb, in my 91 I have the 194 bulbs that light the gauges when the dash lights are on and the indicators like the 4wd, brights etc are the 74 mini wedge. So chances are the reverse light is the 74 bulb but I’m not positive as I don’t have an auto.

Did you find any vids on the net for dash removal??

Anyway hope that helps let us know how it goes and welcome
