But the wheelbase on the 3rd gen. Xtracab trucks is just as horrendous as the way they look. They're just WAY too long to be practical, and ugly as sin IMO. And if I need the extra cab room, I have a car that seats 4 comfortably. Why would I want my 88 regular cab long bed 4WD truck to?

84-95 Regular cab short bed or 4Runner = 103" SWB
84-88 Xtracab, 84-92 Regular cab long bed = 112" LWB
89-95 Xtracab = 123" (E)LWB
wow harsh on the ext cabs... im a big fan of my 3rd gen and second gen... although i cant turn to save my life in my 3rd gen with the front axle pushed 2.5 inches foward

The only thing I liked about my 89 reg cab was the size and turning radius for wheeling. It was really nice on tight trails. But with life pushing me more into expedition style wheeling extended stay fishing trips out on the coast. I'm super glad I have my ext cab.

I've had two standard cabs, and I prefer the looks, yet sure would prefer a reclining seat on longer drives...

What I'd really like to find is a crew-cab, yet I think those were JDM-only.

I have only had the extra cab. That being said, the flexibility is worth it. Go to the big box store and put valuable stuff in the cab. Can still stop somewhere else with no worries. I can take the whole family to the beach and not worry about sand. Just throw everything in the bed and climb into the cab. It's a wonderful thing. To each their own.

Double Cabs were wold in Japan and everywhere else in the world, except North America. Meaning also in...

ARL: AUSTRALIA
EUR: EUROPE
ME: MIDDLE EAST
GEN: FOR GENERAL COUNTRIES(EXCEPT ARL, EUR, ME & NA)

IOW, anywhere they sold trucks under the name Hilux, you could get one with a Double Cab.

Love my extra cab. Before I got my tool box, I kept all kinds of shtuff in the storage compartments in the back. Flares, med supplies, rope, oil, tow strap... quart of oil fits perfectly in the side compartments... Plus, there's enough room for kids in the back seat. I grew up riding back there, and my kids will do the same. I've never been on a trail and thought "wow I wish my truck was 2 feet shorter." I have been very glad my truck is as narrow as it is though. And, I learned while driving on an icy road, no matter how many times I spin around, as long as I can keep her in the middle of the road she'll stay out of the ditch on either side. I also keep a spare uniform in the back seat, and don't have to worry about getting anything on it.

Love my small truck, but I think the single cabs just look too small.
