Regular cab vs Ext cab

Regular cab vs Ext cab
Is it just me or does anyone else prefer the looks of the regular cab vs the extended cab ??? I know these are small trucks to begin with and the extra space sure is nice to have but I prefer the looks of the regular cab.

I'm looking for advice on maybe trading for a 94 ext cab 22re 5spd with 235k and never been rebuilt Here is the ad: http://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/3239468260.html Is 235 to much? also the air needs fixed which i know isn't too expensive but would it be worth trading this for?: http://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/3203534494.html I need something with better gas mileage and this is almost exactly what I've been looking the miles and the air are my only concerns. I've never owned a toyota but I've been around enough to know that most who have them love them and they are cheap and easy to work on and own. any advice is greatly appreciated

I am trying to learn the value of these trucks myself. Hear is a completed listing on ebay for you to compare it to. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1994-...orcev4exp=true. I know this is half the miles but regular cab vs extended cab also and it did sell for a little more money

I think based on the 22re's reputation and the fact that trying to find an ext. cab 4x4 5spd 4cyl that is in good shape body wise is nearly impossible it may be worth the trade even though I'm in florida where air isn't a luxury its a necessity and it needs fixing on that 94. the seller says the motor doesn't leak or smoke but 235k is a little scary for me since my chevy only has 133k and I've had to replace literally everything and somethings twice! Im right in the middle of the road on this because I want to get better mpg's and I've been searching for a truck like the 94 high and low for awhile I also want to get a yota because they are cheap to own, run, and fix but with no A/C in florida and 235k it could have countless other problems that could come up

i have both as well, 2 xtra cabs and 2 regular. Both xtra cabs look cool, but then again the regular cabs look cool as well. My favorite look is the regular cab long bed, but i think an xtra cab long bed would look even cooler. IMO, it really depends on the lift, tires and armor. They make a cool truck cool, and a corny truck just corny.
bottom line, xtra cabs look cool, and regular cabs look cool as well, but in a different kind of way....make sense?

The reason I ask is I just bought a regular cab truck that is very rough, but I like it so much I want a nice one now and I really like the looks of the regular cab better, but there is absolutely no room behind the seat compared to my full size 2004 chevy regular cab. Trying to decide what to get

I've had both, have an 86 rc/lb currently. In a Toyota up to 88 it doesn't make much difference to me, a 2nd gen x-cab is still tiny. I do miss the room I had in the king-cab Nissan I had a few trucks ago though, same or more room than a 3rd gen Toyota where the extra cab is a huge upgrade.
If I found an x-cab for my truck for the right money I would probably swap it on though. If I built another Toyota from the ground up like my 85, I'd have an x-cab on a rc/sb frame, short wheelbase with some cab space.

i had a 79 short bed and my current 88 xtra cab and i can tell you the extra room in the cab is well worth it.
plus an xtra cab is worth more money.
live with both and you will see for yourself the extra room is far better imo.

i'm just a little guy, only 5'7, with short legs, so i'm sitting almost all the way up regardless of xtra cab or regular. I dont carry much with me, but the days when i wonder out into the forest i do like to pack some of the bigger more delicate things in the cab with me, rather then getting thrown all around the bed. Its just better with the xtra cab to tuck it behind the seat, but i could care less if its riding shotgun with me (along with a passanger, HAHA!)

Some good points about the space in the xtra cab. I am always suprised how much I can get back there and keep dry and safe. Something to consider if you're looking to buy. I have had someone sit back there on a few occasions. They didn't seem like they were a big fan of that.

I've had both. You'll never get me back into a regular cab truck. I just don't like feeling like I'm steering with my teeth or like sitting in an airplane's uncomfortable vertical seats. Gotta remember - in a pre-Tacoma there are no airbags, so not having the wheel directly in your face might be a good thing for some. I'm only 5'10" and keep the seat all the way back - dunno how it is for you tall people.
Someday I'll be getting my mother in-law's Tacoma single cab and guess what's gonna happen? A SAS and "walk-through cab" so I recline my seat just a tad past "vertical"
Yes, finding an xtra-cab 4wd with 22re/5spd, in good shape is kinda like trying to find a unicorn.

I by far prefer the looks of a regular cab. In fact I can't stand Xtracabs. I would never want one for any reason(other than spare parts). Though I also prefer the look of long beds over short beds. So it's not the long wheelbase I don't like(since 84-92 long beds are the same wheelbase as an 84-88 Xtracab). I do actually prefer the extra 9" of wheelbase over short wheelbase rigs. But the wheelbase on the 3rd gen. Xtracab trucks is just as horrendous as the way they look. They're just WAY too long to be practical, and ugly as sin IMO. And if I need the extra cab room, I have a car that seats 4 comfortably. Why would I want my 88 regular cab long bed 4WD truck to?
79-95 Regular cab short bed or 4Runner = 103" SWB
84-88 Xtracab, 84-92 Regular cab long bed = 112" LWB
89-95 Xtracab = 123" (E)LWB
79-95 Regular cab short bed or 4Runner = 103" SWB
84-88 Xtracab, 84-92 Regular cab long bed = 112" LWB
89-95 Xtracab = 123" (E)LWB

I have a reg-cab, im 6' and it gets un-comfotable after a day of driving, i always need just abit more room. that said i like the reg cab's shorter wheel base for going up and over stuff when wheelin, the reg cab looks much better. if i could have an ex cab with the shorter wheelbase, but i want the bed to still be 76" long...
haha, i guess i cant have my cake and eat it too!
