I have/had a similar problem with the brake light coming on randomly. It would go when you hit the brakes. i just replaced the cv axle and bled the brakes but when driving, at intersections...the brake light would come on..and it WOULD DIE! it would start right back up but then happen again. I re-bled ALL 4 brakes, the fluid has been full, i reset the computer and so far as of a couple block drive, the light didnt come on and it didnt die. has anyone had this happen before? Do you think the brake light sensor deal in some way would make my computer freak out and truck die? or could it be some underlying problem. im very mechanically savy so this has me stumped. 98 4runner by the way

I have the same problem this morning. The red ( Brake ! ) light came on when I pulled the parking hand brake. When I released it, the brake light stays on. I noticed that when I pull the parking brake, the light got brighter, and when I release the parking brake, the light went dimmer, but it stays on. I popped the hood and Ta-da... the brake fluid in the reservoir is below the Min level.
