Which Recall is this?

Emailed Toyota over ths weekend to find out if any SSC's were outstanding and they replied:

We have checked your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)
JT3vn**********86 and determined that this 1990 4Runner is involved in the following SSC which is outstanding:

SSC#: P01
SSC Name: A/C Expansion Valve

Please contact your local Toyota dealership for completion of any outstanding SSC.

Your email has been documented at our National Headquarters under file #200609110684. If we can be of further assistance.

What is the problem with the Expansion valve?
Has anyone had this done what is involved?

Thank you.

Search turned up nothing, hoping to pull from the collective audiance.

hey sorry to hijack your thread, but could you point me in the direction of where you emailed them? I've been wanting to check on my truck but wasn't sure where to start.

Was playing around the website (Toyota)
Try this
http://toyota.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/t...y=0&p_lva=4164

I just dont really have a relationship with the dealership, so i went to corporate since they keep track of all of this stuff.

This is basically what i sent:

I recently purchased this vehicle and would like to know the status of the recalls.

The VIN # - JT3VN**********86

If they have been completed by privious owner please forward the dealership who completed the work and the date completed.

Thank you,
Reggie Miller

You could also just call the local dealer.

Good luck.

Alright thanks man. Yea I don't feel like calling our dealership, they are going through a big construction project right now so it would just be a big jumbled mess. Thanks again though.

Which Recall is this? (Expansion Valve)

Hey Reggie - had the recall done to my 4Runner years ago (at Longo Toyota) for the A/C system. It seemed straightforward, and I believe they had to remove all of the R12 Freon, change the expansion valve on the evaporator (inside the cabin below the glove box) and refill with new R12.

I'm wondering if the dealer you take it to will use R12 to refill it.

Best of luck on your search for a dealer.

I used the link reggie 00 posted earlier and it works great . Just a simple email sent to Toyota and they replied in about 24 hours showing all the recall work that had been done on my 4Runner and which dealership did the work. Nice to find out that my headgasket was replaced only 2 yrs ago.

Thanks Reggie 00 - :bigclap:

I emailed Toyots to get a listing of the Dealerships that completed the recall work on my 4Runner. Since they did not submit it in the original reply.

The reply i got listed another recall.
so now i have:

your 1990 4 Runner is involved in the following SSC which are outstanding:

SSC#: 50N
SSC Name: 50N SSC Truck/4Runner Steering Relay Rod

SSC#: P01
SSC Name: A/C Expansion Valve

So if you did the email, and got your reply, make sure they let you know what dealership did the other recalls.

I'm gonna send it in again to see if i can score the head gasket recall.
They still have not listed the dealerships form me.
