rebuilt motor wont start
hey guys, this past weekend i got a new 22re for my 92 pickup. i installed it myself and everything went really nice and smooth. when i went to start it, it turned over nicely but would not fire. i thought it might just need to get the fluids in it so i gave it a few more seconds. nothing. i went and got a wiring diagram to make sure that all my connection were right and they were. i put a injector test light on an injector and it didnt pulse but it did light up. also it had codes 23 and 32 i think. now, i did accidently take my MAF off, not just the connector but the whole thing out. when i seen it i knew that was a big mistake. i was wondering if the mass air flow sensor can cause my injectors not to work properly or is it the computer?

I just rebuilt my V6. It was my first time, and when I went to start it just kept turning over and wouldn't fire. Did have a backfire through the intake once or twice. Checked everything three times and then realized I was off 180 degree with my dist.
Fixed that, and fired instantly. Scared the crap out of my girlfreind (and me) as she turned the key while I was watching the motor. I had installed headers with no exhaust yet, so that V6 really let us know she was running.

alright, i went and did some more research on this. My timing is where it is supposed to be. i did get some wiring diagrams for the ECU so i am going to see if all the voltage is right going to the ECU for my injectors. I am hoping that i will find something wrong. i am getting closer

Is the MAF on and all tubing to the throttle body installed? Without it all put together you aren't going to get anywhere unless you stuff something into the gate of the maf to keep it open.
Let us know if everything is fully assembled and how it functions after that.

lol, well i feel dumb. i took my voltmeter and tested all the connections going to the ECU and they were all where they were supposed to be at. so i remembered Elvota talking about his timing and so i checked mine. sure enough is was exactly 180 off. problem solved and she started right up and is running perfect. just pisses me off they i didnt even think about looking at the simple thing.
thanks

i have a 92 toyota pickup, bought it eight years ago...new motor, rubberized frame...rebuilt from the ground up. finaly got it back together and can't get an injector pulse. i have heard talk of the distributor sending a pulse signal to the ecu. i have checked all relays, even replaced the computer...still no pulse. i have been using my dome lightbulb to test with, but also read sumthing about needing a special test bulb that snaps into the injector plug. i'm lost guys...got nearly 13 grand invested into a truck i paid 1200 for and i can't get it started

ikillall4korn, this may sound stupid, but have you checked your fuses?
there's a 15 amp EFI fuse under the hood in the fuse box on the passenger side that will stop the motor from firing and injecting fuel
check that before messing with your distributor
if still no luck, the easiest way to see if you have it 180 off; just take it off and put it back on 180 turned
