Rebuilt Motor Barely Passed Smog?

I just got done rebuiling my 22re it is bored 20 over and the crank was turned 10 under. I put a 268 cam in it and the truck is stock, no lift or tires. I just went to get it smoged and it barely passed and I need to get some ideas as to why it just barley passed. It has 10 miles on the engine since the rebuild so I'm still breaking it in.I have it idled at 900 and timed at 6 degrees, It runs great. I'm posting the test results one before the rebuild and one after. The head gasket blew about an hour after the first test and thats what prompted the rebuild.

You need to give the rings time to seat and things time to break in, you should have put at least 500 miles on the engine before having it smoged, im sure your numbers would have been better then.

uh... after the rebuild it passed.
What's the problem?

Bet that after the rings seat and such the emissions will get even better, like myyota suggested.

Yea I know I should of broken it in but its hard to do 500 miles with expired registration. In california you have to get a one day pass every day you want to drive and I dont like standing in the dmv line. I was just wondering why the emissions were so high.

I'm not an expert in this (but if you want to be a poser, you can start with http://www.autoshop101.com/autoshop15.html -- look for the articles starting with Emission#1).

Your O2 reading is pretty high, along with a high HC. This could suggest a misfire, so if the truck is running well, it could be running lean. I assume you have no codes (you shouldn't be able to "pass" with any codes). How confident are you in your O2 sensor?

Interpreting 5-gas results is way beyond me, but it is worth your while. Your mileage will be hurting with these numbers, and 2 years (to your next smog check) will just fly by.
