Rebuilding a 3.0

My first time here, this is a great site. I bought a 90 4x4 with a 3.0 and 5 speed. It was losing antifreeze. As there was no sign of fluid loss outside the motor. I tore into it and sure enough the head gasket was leaking by. My question is i want to build a good motor with good parts. There are so my brands to choose from, which are the the top of the line? Also are there any tricks to getting a good seal for the HGs.

Has anyone ever put a 22r in a 3.0 truck? Is it a big pain?

If you are actually contemplating an engine swap, then take a long look at the 3.4 section in engine swap. It would be a far easier swap than putting in a 22RE, and it will give you better power AND milage than the 3.0.

I looked at the kit. 1700.00+ engine is alittle too pricey.
