Need to remove my rear wiper arm on my 91 Toyota 4runner is there a special technique or am I missing a nut to remove it

Also is there a reason why my wiper arm is sagging and does not return to its starting location

 

Are you having trouble removing it? It is just one nut in the core of the arm, where it connects to the shaft. Then you have to carefully force it out. The reason an arm will not move back to its location is if it is missing the plastic guide. This, I imagine, is common because new arms will not have those guides, and they are difficult to install on new arms.

excellent, I have had this issue multiple times.

removing the windshield wiper is a single bolt - 10mm so lets address this first cause this too gave me a few issues.

there is a little plastic cap over the nut, it is attached to the whole assembly and is on the same hinge that the wiper uses. the cap rotates outward towards the rear of the vehicle. I will take pictures for you tomorrow as its dark here now.

the problem with the wiper not going to its resting position is a super easy fix, I had this issue and racked my brain until i had that lightbulb moment and fixed it super easy.
I assume its going all the way up to the top of the window but then not going up the ramp on the guide?
if so this is an easy fix with two pliers or wrenches, with the wiper arm on or off the vehicle, simply grab onto the left side of it and hold firm while using the pliers on the right side to rotate and put a ever so slight twist in the wiper arm, this will create a better angle for the wiper to retract.

if it doesnt work then yeah maybe removing, letting the wiper motor go all the way up then placing it back on in the resting position.

This is with the cap off to access the nut. If its never come off then it may be tight On the tapered bolt from the wiper motor. Then lightly hitting the hinge area with a rubber hammer. Be sure the wiper is not on the window when doing this obviously





This is the part for pliers. to re adjust the angle the wiper goes in.
