My rear windows on my 95 4runner go down very slow i was just wondering if anyone had the same problem? If so are the motors just going out? cause my front two arnt tooo much faster but there is a difference.

Same here as well as my friend's 94 4Runner and my brother's 95.

Most likely it's the motors. It wouldn't hurt to take the panel off and clean/regrease the tracks but it probably won't help either.

I personally don't even have my rear seats in so they're not a big concern; I just hope they stop working while they're all the way up!

HTH and let me know if you fix it and if it's indeed the motors.

Try to spray a small amount of lube into the glass runs. Most likely the rubber is dirty and dry....try a bit of lube before wanting to replace the motor($$$).

I WAS having the same problem on my 88 4Runner. To solve it I tooke the window apart and cleaned the grease/dirt off of th regulator. Once I did that I regreased it with a good lithium grease and put it all back together. It will now go up and down een when it is sub-zero.

It got so bad before I did this I couldn't even get the window to go up or down when it got cold outside. The grease that was in there was like a stiff glue.

Why would you want to put the windows down when it's sub-zero? Brrrrr! LOL

the rear window motor/regulator giving up the ghost is a totally common issue.

i replaced the whole thing (motor/regulator/tracks) on my truck last year. it's expensive, but worth it. you may be able to get away with just replacing the motor and/or regulator and cleaning up the whole inside really well.

I think he's talking about the rear side windows, which are very slow on mine, too. In fact, they were slow when I bought it in '97!

I would still tear them apart and re-lube them. The lube just gets stiff with the more dust it collects over time.

Why spend a couple hundred on regulators without trying a couple pennies of elbow grease.

I second that. There's definitely no harm in trying to fix them w/out replacing unnecessary parts. Often times the rear windows get dirtier and allow more build-up because they're used less.
